Employee Attributes & Attitudes

Introduction -

Hello and welcome to my Task on the Rainbow Charity here I will be explaining two different Employee Attributes, and then two Personal Attitudes. These attributes and attitudes will benefit you to work as a volunteer for the Rainbow Charity Group. I will be explaining two employee’s attributes, one which is job specific and one which is general. I will also be explaining two attitudes, one which is personal and one is general.

Employee Attributes –

What is the difference between a job specific attribute and a general attribute -

The difference between a Job Specific Attribute and a General is that for example if you are applying to be an IT Technician, you would need a Specific Skill to be able to carry out that job which would be, Good knowledge of I.T, and a general skill would be hardworking.

Job Specific -

I.T Knowledge –

I need to be able to burn CD's and use the software that is required to burn the CD'S. I also need to add labels to the CD's that I create so it is easy to read what that CD is called so the people at Rainbow Charity can identify and play the CD they like. I need to be able to log on using my details then navigating through folders and basic typing, also need to be able to understand and access the software for burning the CD's. I will also show the Clients how to use hardware such as Earphones to be able to plug in and listen to the music on the CD

I need to then know how to record the songs and make a playlist then burn them onto the CD. I have to make sure the CD is the correct size and will hold all the songs. I also need to be able to log off properly, and then shut down the computer correctly after I have finished using it. At the Rainbow Charity I need to be able to look up and update Client Records. I also need to be able to communicate through the Internet using email and social networking to be able to talk to my colleagues at the Charity as well as the Clients.

This attribute is valued highly as the people who have problems with their sight will be grateful for someone to be there to depend on because without them they would struggle using ICT. Microsoft Training and ESICT would be two qualifications that would benefit you well while working here at the Rainbow Charity

General Attribute -

Communication Skills –

I need to be a good Communicator and be able to speak with the people you are helping out with IT as they have problems with their sight so if they ask questions you need to be there and help them with their problem and be able to talk about it and explain it to them. Verbal Communication is a big skill and is widely recognised. Communicating with other staff members to arrange meeting clients, to arrange staff meetings are all a big part of communicating and will look well on a CV if you have used these skills in the work area before. verbal communication is also very important for arranging appointments and instructing clients how to use the computer for loading CD's using the software provided for them. If i did not demonstrate good verbal skills the clients at the Charity would find it hard on what to do e.g. using the computer to load the CD's.

I also need to be able to communicate with my co workers so I can get work done and help each other out if required. This attribute will be valued by the person who hasn’t got good sight because they like to talk out their problems to people who will answer them really well and listen to them all the time. I would make CD's for the people in Rainbow Light and help them play it so they can relax while listening to music.

Attitudes -

Personal Attitude –

Leadership -

I need to be a good leader especially if you are a volunteer and you need to take control if someone needs your help you need to be able to tell your team worker to help them if you are too busy doing something else. A leader takes confidence, self motivation and a lot of other specific attitudes. To be a good leader I would need to show clients to different volunteers of the organisation to show them what our volunteers to. Leadership is very important in the Charity, because say for example the manager was sick and had taken the day off one of the volunteers would need to step up and be a Leader to the clients at the Charity.

Leadership is a great attitude to have and is valued by all employers as a big attitude. In the Rainbow Charity Group you would need to be a Good Leader to show that you are self motivated, determined.

Self Motivation –

Self Motivation is a great Personal Attitude to have as it means you will be a positive person bringing a spring to your step while going to work. You need to be self motivated when you are doing a job voluntary because they rely on you to help them out if they need something. If my manager went out of the charity building I would need to be really self motivating to get my work done, I also need to make sure that the charity does well and doesn’t fail goals and standards.

Self Motivation is valued highly by employers as it is one of the main attitudes you need when it comes to work because it means you can get tasks done easier and more efficient. In the Rainbow Charity it would be hard to get self motivated as it is a voluntary job and you don’t get paid for it, but you should remember it is for the good of the people you are working to help.
